Discrimination in TV and Film Media

Overview

Discrimination is a problem that has affected the world for centuries. Even with the acceptance of other cultures and lifestyles, inevitable prejudices still exist. These problems are often depicted through various forms of media, especially film and television. Often issues of discrimination are addressed to make the audience aware of their existence. Other times, stereotypes appear in the media unintentionally, similar to everyday life. The four aspects of discrimination we will be focusing on are ethnicity, religion, socio-economic status, and gender and sexuality.
